Love is a deep and multidimensional concept that no single definition can encompass in its entirety. The definition of love varies greatly depending on the context of philosophy, psychology, mysticism, biology, individual experience, etc. From a psychological perspective, there are many definitions of love, among which Robert Sternberg's "Love as a Story" theory is very notable. In the late 1980s, Sternberg, a contemporary psychologist, proposed the "Love Triangle" theory, according to which love was defined by three components:intimacy/closeness,passion/enthusiasm,and decision/commitment. However, in the mid-1990s, he revised this theory and proposed the "Love as a Story" theory. This descriptive-analytical study aims to analyze the romantic relationships in the novel "Summer with the Enemy" by Shahla Ujayli in the light of Sternberg's theory and to achieve a clear and comprehensive answer to the following questions: How do love stories manifest in the main characters of the novel? How does this novel succeed in challenging these stories and provide the possibility of reviewing relationship patterns? The achievement of the research indicates that the central romantic relationships in the novel "Summer with the Enemy" within the framework of Sternberg's theory are: a story of participation (of the addiction type), an asymmetric story (of the horror and teacher-student type), a genre/species story (of the war type), an object story (of the relationship as an object: recovery, home and family) and the story reveals in the light of Sternberg's theory that there is a possibility of reviewing the relationship patterns of the characters in the story
