This research examines the storytelling methods in two novels, The Past of Old People by Mahmoud Dowlatabadi and Cevdet Bey and His Sons by Orhan Pamuk. The research is based on the cultural proximity and structural and content similarities of the two stories. This article shows through comparative analysis how these two stories were formed and where their similarities and differences lie. The result of the work is that both authors, by using different processing methods, have created works that are both consistent with the environment and lives of the characters and convey the intellectual and cultural concerns of the author. Dowlatabadi, by using a polyphonic narrative and focusing on the rural setting, reflects poverty and social suffering in Iran. In contrast, Pamuk, with his omniscient narrator and his analysis of the contrast between tradition and modernity, has created a deep and logical structure. The use of diverse narratives, changing points of view, and combining different times have led to diversity in storytelling methods, but sometimes, due to reasons such as the multiplicity of incidents, illogical changes in the overall flow of the story, or the author's obvious interference in the narrative process, weaknesses in the story's coherence are observed.
